on September 25, 1940, and sent to us by Félicia Barbanel, standing on
the right, who managed to escape deportation. Standing in the center is Sylva
ROZENZWEIG, born on July 19, 1926, in Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle). She
lived at 19 rue de Metz in Tours (Indre-et-Loire) when she was arrested. On the
left, standing, is Berthe GRUNFOGEL, Céline Grunfogel's older
sister, born on February 8, 1926, in Nancy. She was interned in the Lalande
camp and then deported with Sylva on convoy
8, which left Angers for Auschwitz on July 20, 1942. |

Esther GUTMACHER, born on
October 28, 1929, in Warsaw, is pictured above between her mother, who was
deported before her, and her younger sister, Mathilde, who escaped arrest.
Esther was deported on convoy 23 of August
24, 1942. The family lived at 24 rue d'Albouy (now rue Lucien-Sampaix, 10th
arr.) in Paris.
