Charlotte (Krejndla) GRYF and her four
children Jeannette, age 9; Maurice, 7; Simon, 5;
and Léon, 1 born in Rheims, had taken refuge in the
southwest. They were transferred from Bordeaux to Drancy and deported on
convoy 29 of September 7, 1942. At Rheims
they lived at 173 avenue Jean Jaurès. This picture shows the three
oldest children; it was taken before Léon was born. On the train,
Jeannette wrote a note to her aunt which the latter received: If you get a
letter from Papa, write him of our unhappiness, and I don't know if we'll see
each other again. Aunt dear, it would be very kind of you to send this letter
to Papa. Papa, we say hello to you for always, a hello from us all and thank
you for everything. |
