FRENCH CHILDREN OF THE HOLOCAUST

A memorial
Serge Klarsfeld

Anna                   Simon                                              Hélène

Sarah KORNFELD is shown here with her three children, all born in Paris: Hélène, age 7; Anna, 6; and Simon, 3. Like her mother, Hélène is wearing the yellow star, required of all Jews from age 6 up as of June 6, 1942. Anna, who turned 6 on April 11, 1942, is also wearing the star. All four were deported, the mother on convoy 14 of August 3, 1942, after having been forcibly separated from her children at Pithiviers. Her children followed her on August 28 on convoy 25. This picture was taken a few days before the Vel d'Hiv roundup.
