Renate KROCHMAL, born on September 3, 1935, and her sister Liane, born on July 25, 1937, were from Vienna. They were among the 44 children from Izieu. Their father, Jacob, and their mother, Amalie, refugees from Austria, were interned at Rivesaltes. They were handed over to the SS by Vichy and deported on convoy 33 of September 16, 1942. Their brother Siegfried, who was 11 years old, was killed while trying to cross the Swiss border in 1942. The two little girls were deported on convoy 71 of April 13, 1944.
