Claude LEVAN-REIFMAN, one of the 44 lzieu children, was born in Paris on July 11, 1933. His mother, Suzanne, née Reifman, was the doctor of the Izieu home, where her parents also lived. Claude, his mother, and his grandparents were deported on convoy 71 of April 13, 1944. Léon Reifman, Claude's uncle, escaped the roundup by jumping from a window. He died in 1994 in Brantôme (Dordogne), where he was a doctor, three months after the inauguration of a museum at the Izieu House and 50 years after the roundup.
