Each of the four members of the RAJCHNUDEL family was deported on a different convoy. The father, Benjan, arrested in the big roundup of August 1941, was deported on convoy 3 of June 22, 1942. Only one son escaped the big Vel d'Hiv roundup, in which his mother and his two sisters were arrested. Chana, the mother, forcibly separated from her children, was deported from Pithiviers on convoy 14 of August 3, 1942. Maurice (Mose), age 15, was deported on convoy 16 of August 7, 1942; and Ginette, 11, on convoy 20 of August 17.
