Gilles SADOWSKI was one of the 44 children from the home in Izieu. He was born on September 11, 1935, in Paris. His mother, Ruchla, was deported on convoy 11 of July 27, 1942, after her arrest in the Vel d'Hiv roundup. Gilles' father, Symcha, who was living under a forged ID, was arrested in Lyons a few weeks before Liberation and deported under his assumed name. Gilles was deported on convoy 71 of April 13, 1944. He is photographed here with his cousin, Lily Grynvogel, born on July 16, 1936, in Paris. She lived at 14 bis rue Louis Bonnet (11th arr.) and was deported on convoy 24 of August 26, 1942.
