Esther SCHENKEL was arrested in La Bachellerie (Dordogne) with her five children and was deported with them on April 13, 1944, on convoy 71 after the execution of her husband, Nathan, by the Germans, on March 30, 1944. From left to right: Isaac, age 12; Cécile, 13; Jacques, 10; Maurice, 8; and Alfred, 6. All of the children were born in Strasbourg.
