Rachel STOPNICKI was 2 years old and her sister
Nelly, 5, when they were deported. Rachel was born on April 29, 1940,
and Nelly on April 8, 1937, both in Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle). Their parents,
Chil and Esther, were arrested at Salles (Landes), transferred from Bordeaux to
Drancy on July 18, 1942, and deported on convoy 7 of July 19. The two little
girls, taken in by a non-Jewish family in Salles after their parents' arrest,
were taken away on August 25, 1942, by French police under orders from the
Bordeaux prefecture. They were held for one night in the camp at Bacalan, then
transferred to Drancy on August 26, 1942, and deported on August 31, 1942, on
convoy 26. |
