Henri, few weeks after his return from the camps |
|
Henri (Hirsch) BORLANT is the child in the
center of this picture taken at the school on rue Baudricourt (13th
arr.) in Paris. To the right are his brothers: standing is
Bernard, who perished at Auschwitz; seated is Roger, who escaped the
roundups. The Borlants had fled to Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay (Maine-et-Loire),
but the family was cruelly stricken in July 1942: their father, Aron, a tailor,
was arrested and deported from Angers on July 20 on
convoy 8 with his daughter Denise, age 21,
his sons Bernard, 17, and Henri, 15, born in Paris. Only Henri returned; he
later became a physician. In 1994 the school at 53-57 de la rue Baudricourt
published a booklet about the Jewish children who had been pupils there in
kindergarten or primary school and who had been deported. |
