Simantov and Sophie MIZRAHI were deported on February 10, 1944, on convoy 68, with four of their children, arrested with them in the village of Moulinvaux near Saint-Jean d'Angely (Charente-Maritime), near the Atlantic coast. Victoria was 18 years old; Rachel, 13; Lucien, 9; and Jean-Claude, not yet 2. Jean-Claude was born in La Rochelle, the others in Montluçon. During their arrest, Victoria had run away from the farm in the night with little Jean-Claude in her arms. A gendarme caught them.
