Felix KerstenQuestion:Could you let me know your organization's attitude to Himmler's personal masseur? Hero or fraud? And could you point me at web sites citing each argument? Many thanks Ralf P. Loserth Responds:Hello,I'm one of the persons who answers question on the Holocaust History Project. Our website does not take an "official" position on Felix Kersten, per se. He was, in a way, a personal doctor to Himmler , in that he was the only one that could make his terrible intestinal pain go away. Many people would consider that he used this position to stay alive and safe during the Holocaust, but there isn't any evidence that he himself was part of Himmler's inner circle. There is evidence that he helped save countless lives destined for the death chamber. In many circles he considered a hero of the likes of Schindler and Wallenberg. He published a memoir call "The Kersten Memoirs", published in 1957, additionally: http://www.jewishpress.com/news_article.asp?article=2684 http://www.wileyeurope.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-0471396729.html Thank you for your question.
