NATO CRIME CHRONICLE

April 5, 1999

During the evening and by the night between April 3 and 4, NATO aircraft attacked Beograd, Pancevo, Novi Sad, Kraljevo, Cacak, Smederevo, Backa Palanka.

The NATO criminals with their two missiles destroyed the bridge ”Sloboda” (Freedom) in Novi Sad, that connects the town with Sremska Kamenica.

The bridge »Sloboda« was built in 1981 and it is one of the most sophisticated and most attractive bridges in the country and one of the most important infrastructure installations in the area. At the moment when NATO struck there were several vehicles on the bridge, some people riding bicycles and some pedestrians. The wounded citizens were taken into hospital. The certain number of victims is not confirmed yet. Bombing of the bridge caused great losses on surrounding buildings and among the others radio television Novi Sad building was damaged.

Water pipelines running along the bridge were damaged and for some time the town was left without water.

At approximately the same early evening hours another bridge on the Danube, linking Backa Palanka and Ilok, called ”25. maj” (May 25) was also hit and damaged.

In Beograd civilian targets were bombed once again. NATO aviation with its two projectiles hit the central heating power plant in the residential area (Block 70a) in Novi Beograd that provides heating for approximately one million inhabitants of Novi Beograd and Zemun. Enormous fire blazed up and fuel explosions shattered the surrounding area for almost an hour. The watchman on his night duty was killed then.

The aggressor missiles hit a military facility at Topcider and the Police Academy building at Banjica. On that occasion the largest military hospital in the Balkans ”The Military Medical Academy” located next to the Police Academy, was also damaged.

Two people were killed and four workers were wounded in a NATO attack against the power and heating plant of the Pancevo refinery. Refinery will be out of work for a longer period of time.

Using about 70 airplanes, bombers and supporting aircraft NATO attacked Cacak. Once again the factory ”Sloboda”, producing home appliances, in Cacak was bombed. The plants producing electrical cookers and vacuum cleaners were hit, as well as the workers? residential area. On that occasion Mileva Kuveljic (aged 73) was killed. Some of the missiles missed their target and hit the surrounding residential area so that five houses were totally demolished and about one hundred were damaged. The nearby kindergarten was also damaged.

During the last night ”The Jugopetrol” installations in the industrial area of Smederevo were hit. Enormous fire blazed up but it was soon extinguished. There were great material losses.

In Bogutovac near Kraljevo ”The Beopetrol” fuel storage was bombed. Three destructive missiles caused powerful detonations and fire. The wounded ”Beopetrol” workers were medically treated. These NATO attacks completely destroyed ”The Beopetrol” buildings and installations at the storage as well as the fuel planned for the spring sowing season.

The NATO criminals made orgies on the Yugoslav sky last night, trying very hard to inflict as many damages and losses to our country as possible. They attacked Zemun, Beograd, Niš, Sombor, Priština, Raška, Kraljevo surroundings, Gnjilane, and Lucani.

In Zemun NATO attacked the Air Force Headquarters located in the very center of the town, next to the Faculty of Agriculture, the sports hall ”Pinki” and the department store. The building was completely burnt down and the detonation caused many serious damages in the Main Street in Zemun and the electricity was cut of.

For the third time NATO attacked a hospital – this time it was City Hospital at Zvezdara. Patients were taken care of and the conditions in the hospital are quite good. A quarry in Rakovica, next to the factory ”May 21st” and to the monastery was bombed. Two missiles were launched on Obrenovac. They also bombed the civilian airport in Surcin.

NATO criminals, people without any trace of humanity in themselves, attacked Niš with all their might. Twenty missiles were launched on military and industrial targets in the industrial area of Niš. The tobacco factory was hit, fermented tobacco storage was blown up and in that way enormous material losses were inflicted on the factory. During the bombings the nearby students? dormitory and dining hall were damaged. In the second air strike three missiles were launched on the very center of the town. The barracks ”Mija Stanimirovic” were hit by four missiles and two bombs and the barracks ”Stevan Sindelic” located in the centor of the town was hit by four bombs. The southern part of the military airport was bombed by three bombs. The material losses are enormous while the number of the victims is still unknown.

About midnight the municipality of Raška region was bombed by seven projectiles. The town of Raška was hit by five bombs and many family houses were damaged. Twelve citizens were injured. The bridge across the Ibar river along the main road Kraljevo – Raška was hit near Biljanovac.

The chemical plant ”Milan Blagojevic” in Lucani was also hit.

During the evening the enemy NATO aircraft attacked Priština and Kosovo and Metohija. Once again they bombed the surrounding of the monastery Gracanica and the airfield ”Slatina”. Gnjilane was hit by six projectiles; a relay station and the bridge were hit. Stari Trg near Kosovska Mitrovica was bombed by six projectiles.

Sombor was bombed by three bombs; the NIS fuel terminal that is of absolutely no military significance was hit.

Leskovac at Gruza near Kraljevo was bombed once again. The fuel storage was hit which caused enormous fire.

April 4, 1999

Once again, after fifty years, the fascists bombed the center of Belgrade.

With eight cruise missiles enemy NATO aircraft attacked governmental institutions located some twenty metres away from the hospital complex of the Clinical Centre of Serbia. Within that complex there is the biggest maternity hospital in the Balkans, Emergency and the First Aid clinic, Psychiatric clinic and another dozen of clinics and hospitals. Newly born babies, in the arms of their mothers and caring medical staff looked for salvation in the hospital cellar. There were about sixty newly born babies and several just operated young mothers.

The both government institution buildings located in the busiest Belgrade boulevard were directly hit. In one of the state buildings the archives were storaged. In this unheard of barbarian attack the archives were completely destroyed. Powerful detonation damaged the surrounding buildings and the shop windows cracked.

The NATO criminals launched three missiles on village Leskovac near Gruza.

There were several attacks on Fruška Gora, targeting Irig, Vrdnik and Ruma.

The SFOR soldiers from the German contingent, using about thirty vehicles, carried out a diversion along the Beograd-Bar railway. About five metres of railroad was damaged and the railroad guard Vidoje Tomic was killed. The diversion was carried out from the Republika Srpska territory and thus hardly reached Dayton Agreement was threatened. In this criminal action for the first time SFOR openly demonstrated its real role.

April 3, 1999

The criminal NATO aircraft continuously bombs Kosovo and Metohija: the night before yesterday and yesterday with banned cluster bombs they bombed Serb villages in the vicinity of the airfield Slatine (municipality Lipljan). Radar at the radio transmitter Goleš was slightly damaged. TV relay at the mountain Cvilen near Prizren was bombed, too but it was not damaged.

The area around Klina in Metohija was also bombed. In village Nogavac near Orahovac NATO bombs killed one person at the spot while the other person, badly injured, died in the hospital. Both persons were of Albanian nationality. Another six Albanians were wounded by the fragments scattered from the cluster bombs that are banned by international conventions. Village Nogavac, inhabited exclusively by Albanians, was leveled to the ground.

Stari Trg near Kosovska Mitrovica was attacked. Cluster bombs were used. Numerous civilian facilities were damaged. They also bombed Šakovica around the town bus terminal so that great material losses were inflicted on civilian facilities.

Four highly destructive missiles fell in Kuršumlija. One of them hit a family house at the hill Smokovo. The owner f the house named Stevanovic was killed at the spot. Another missile fell by the medieval monastery of Holy Mother. The missiles damaged railroad line Kuršumlija-Prokuplje. A transformer station at the entrance to the town was also bombed. The consequences of the NATO attack targeting exclusively civilian facilities were civilian victims and great material losses. Up to this moment thirteen citizens were killed and twenty five were wounded in NATO attacks against Kuršumlija region.

NATO aircraft carried out its attacks in the wider region around Leskovac.

Three missiles were launched on Vranje. Major part of the barracks ”1300 kaplara” (corporals) located near the town bus terminal was destroyed and the surrounding buildings were badly damaged. The printing company ”Nova Jugoslavija” was also damaged. Missiles were launched on the villages of Pepeljevac, Grabovnica and Šordevo.

April 2, 1999

The criminal NATO aircraft armada, with its two missiles destroyed the old bridge between Petrovaradin and Novi Sad.

Only a hundred meters away from the bridge there is the residential and business part of the town center so that many civilian facilities suffered great material losses. Novi Sad was attacked at five o’clock in the morning, the time when people leave their homes and start to work. It is simply incredible coincidence that there was nobody at the bridge at that time and that there are no victims. Together with the bridge, the main water supplies pipeline was destroyed and the town water supplies are cut off. Telephone installations are also cut off. Material losses are estimated at about 13 milion Deutsche marks. The citizens of Novi Sad are immensely sad and embittered.

The bridge across the Danube river, near Beška, was also hit and a lane construction was partly damaged.

As the steel bridge construction collapsed, the river traffic is blocked at the 1255th kilometer of the Danube, the most important European waterway that is 3505 kilometers long. This criminal NATO attack violates the Convention about the river traffic on the Danube, the UN Charter and European development plans.

April 1, 1999

NATO aircraft started its attack against Priština and surrounding villages in the early evening hours. Several cluster bombs were dropped on the barracks ”Kosovski junaci” (Kosovo heroes) located not far away from the town bus terminal. One missile was fired at the village Lukare while the other fell in the field in the area of village Gornja Brnjica. The mountain top Grmija, seven kilometers away from Priština was also bombed. NATO aircraft attacks were carried out twice after that.

In the early morning hours they attacked Pec and the nearby suburbs. Only civilian targets were hit. Two detonations could be heard in Gnjilane.

Two missiles fell in the area of the Serb village Ibarska Slatina, twenty kilometers away from Kosovska Mitrovica. One of the missiles fell right in between the railway-bridge and the road-bridge and only miracle protected them from damaging.

Yesterday NATO aircraft fired a missile that fell near the church of Birth of the Holly Mother in village Jelašnica, between Vladicin Han and Surdulica, but the missile did not explode. The telephone cables were damaged so that telephone communications are out of use.
