Incidents During the Past 24 Hours

Yesterday evening in Mitrovica (MNB North), a KFOR French patrol stopped a car in which a Zastava 6.35mm pistol was discovered. An individual was detained and handed over to UNMIK Police.

A civilian car forced its way through a KFOR vehicle checkpoint in the northern part of Mitrovica at 1025 p.m. last night. The vehicle struck a KFOR French soldier, slightly injuring him. KFOR French soldiers fired on the car in an attempt to stop it. The car was later found at the city hospital with the driver and a wounded passenger. KFOR French Gendarmerie and UNMIK police are investigating the incident.

Yesterday evening in Urosevac (MNB East), a KFOR MP patrol found the body of a 43 year-old male Albanian in a car. Preliminary investigation revealed the victim died from a bullet wound to his neck.

Yesterday afternoon, at Kulina checkpoint in MNB West, a 33 year-old man was found to have a single gunshot wound. He had traveled from Montenegro with another man when the KFOR Italian soldiers discovered his injury. He was immediately transported to the KFOR Italian field hospital.

Yesterday evening in Dragas (MNB South), a small amount of explosives damaged a house. The owner of the house was not injured. Investigation is ongoing by UNMIK Police and KFOR German MPs.

KFOR soldiers yesterday discovered a man in MNB Centre who had possession of a pistol and ammunition without proper authorization. The man was detained and the weapon and ammunition confiscated.
