Régine and Jankiel SUKIER had 6 children, all born in Paris. This 1936 photograph shows all but the youngest child, Daniel, born in 1938. Only Fernand (seated, in front) escaped arrest during the Vel d'Hiv roundup, when they were arrested at their home at 130 rue de Belleville in Paris (20th arr.). Jankiel was deported on convoy 15, and Rachel, age 13 (on the left), on convoy 16 of August 7, 1942. Régine was deported on convoy 25 of August 28 with three of her children: Hélène, 8 (on her father's lap); Simon, 6 (on his mother's lap); and Daniel, 4. Last to be deported was Fanny, 16, arrested on the demarcation line and sent to Auschwitz on convoy 48 of February 13, 1943.
