PREFACE

We decided to publish a study, for the fortieth anniversary of Hitler’s defeat, devoted to the terrifying episode of the assassination of 87 Jews, including 30 women, for the purpose of constituting a collection of skulls and skeletons to be kept at the Institute of Anatomy of a large German university. Because they were Jewish, these men and women were selected, asphyxiated, dismembered and carved up by men of science. Racist science.

About ten years ago, we provided the Yad Vashem Institute in Jerusalem with part of a photographic file drawn up by French Military Justice at the time of Strasbourg’s liberation. In 1981, during the Faurisson case the complete file of Major Jadin, who was an investigative judge with the Strasbourg Military Tribunal after 1944 was sent to Mr. Korman and Mr. Levy, lawyers for the International League Against Racism and Antisemitism. On our advice, the file was also sent to Yad Vashem and we asked Jean-Claude Pressac to study, in particular, how these Jewish victims were gassed at Struthof.

It seemed important to us that this study be published, together with associated documents, most of which were presented in evidence at the Nuremberg trials and are drawn from the following remarkable collections : Blue series, Volume XXXVIII, pages 227-236 ; Red Series, supplement A, pages 1283-1289, Green Series, Volume I, pages 748-752.
