letter to the Reich
Minister of Economics (see enclosure). Whether further claims shall be
represented by the old community of interests [alte lnteressengemeinschaft],
that is something we shall have to resolve at a future date. In any event, it
appears expedient that this community of interests be reactivated under the
appointment of a new business manager (Regierungsrat Schoen?) In this
letter claims for minette supplies are also to be stated unless they are
required for the Saar and Luxembourg, whereby the principle is to be applied
that the Ruhr plants will have to pay at once for all ore which they may obtain
from there.
Mr. Flick points out that in the east the former
owners have been eliminated. Although he does not in any way wish to
contest the claims of the Ruhr plants regarding former property in Luxembourg
and Lorraine, he could, nevertheless, only agree to the letter to Mr. Funk
subject to the reservation that under certain circumstances he would assert
claims in the east.
III. The firms are prepared to provide
officials, engineers, and business men upon the request of Mr. Steinbrinck, the
salaries of which officials, etc., will continue to be paid by them and are
also prepared to meet expenses such as traveling and accommodation allowances.
