6. The Growth of the Magnesium Industry since the outbreak of war
on 1 September 1939
Although Germany showed a much higher
magnesium-producing potential and production when war broke out than the rest
of the world put together, expansion of magnesium production was initiated in
conformity with the Reich Marshal's request for additional light metal
production in order to meet the requirement, particularly of the Air Force.
