Subject: Stockpiling of Coal
We refer to our inquiry of the
10th of last month regarding coal reserves, which you answered by filling in
the questionnaires sent to you. We conclude from your statement that your plant
does not hold the necessary stock which it should have; that is, a quantity
which would cover the average coal consumption of 3 months. The events of the
last few months have, however, shown how important sufficient coal reserve is
for a large plant. Blocking of the waterways and overburdening of the railroads
may prevent delivery for a number of weeks at any time. For this period, the
continuation of production must be guaranteed by the coal
reserves. |

We request you to let us know by 15 February 1939 whether and in
which way you will carry out the stockpiling of a 3-months supply of coal.
