workers and employees, do not believe it. We worried and toiled under
conditions which are very difficult to understand and judge in retrospect.
Indifference toward the fate of our workers is a charge which we do not
deserve.
Gentlemen of the Tribunal, the defendants before you did their
duty in the war and are conscious of no violation of the laws of humanity which
form the basis for a united and peaceful world.
