2. Beaune-la-Roland/Barrack 19 – 94 names of young men. Almost all were between 17 and 21. Some were French, from Paris.

14. Beaune-la-Roland/Firemen barrack – 4 names, all men.

15. Camp of Lalande – 135 names. Many were children without their parents, such as Arlette (1) and Frédérique (2) Feldmann; Roland (6) and Bernard (8) Baumgart; Osias Bergmann (5); Simon (10) and Suzanne (4) Gelber; Samuel (10) and Sarah (9) Frydman; Régine Geld (6); Esther Goldmann (10); Dora (9) Inventarz; Charles Kritzler (14) and his two younger siblings, Agnes (9) and Claude (7); Fernand (7) and Raymond (2) Mazur; Jacques Rosenbaum (3); Michel (4) and Liliane (1) Roth; Henri (6) and Jean (3) Russeck; Jacques Helher (4); Monique Liblind (5); Régine (7) and Colette (6) Smulivici; Maurice Najman (14) and his 9-year-old twin sisters, Berthe and Madeleine; and Francois (12), Jules (9), and Paul (7) Sobel. Mothers with their babies included Rosa Viola with the month-old infant, Edith; Sonia Mantel and baby Nicole (21 days); Violette Levy and her three children, Jean (8), Monique (4,) and Jacques (2); and Mania Nielnicki and her two little boys, Robert (4) and Léon (2); and so many others. All should be mentioned – those unhappy little children, whose despair was so futile – yet it is difficult to read on among these pages.

16. Nancy – 68 names.

Convoy 37, September 25, 1942 (Drancy)

Convoy 37 deported a total of 125 children, 61 boys and 64 girls. It was made up mainly of Romanian Jews – 729 adults and 98 children. Most of the 125 children deported on this convoy – 107 – were French born. The roundup of Romanian Jews had been carried out in Paris just the prior day, September 24, taking a total of 1,574 victims, of whom 183 were children.

The largest component lists for this convoy are:

4. Drancy 1 – 571 people, among them many entire families. Haia Itkis (40) had her five children, Aaron (14), Sarah (11), Joseph (7), Esther (4), and Lisette (3). Rosa (38) and Herscu (42) Lerfeld had their three girls, Clara (14), Esther (11), and Fanny (7). The five Malamout children – Hélène (5 months), Lucien (3), Georges (12), Salomon (15), and Micheline (17) – were deported without their parents, as were the three Franjdenreich brothers, Didier (10), Bernard (4), and Jean (2). Carlotta Slomovics was taken with her four young children, Berthe and Maurice (4), Gisèle (3), and Ernest (5 months).

5. Drancy 2 – 238 people. Estera Bercovici (46) went with her six children, Jean (15),Joseph (12), Lili (10), Fernand (8), Henriette (5), and Marcel (4); Sarah Nusim (42) with her three children, Rachel (13),Nelly (11), and Isi (8); Faja Klein (32) with Jacques (15) and Danièle (4); and Hanna Mandelblatt and her two boys, Albert (10) and Pierre (3).
