Convoy 45, November 11, 1942 (Drancy)

Convoy 45 deported 111 children, 47 boys and 64 girls. Four-fifths were born in France. The entire convoy carried 745 Jews, less than the quota of 1,000. The anti-Jewish section of the Paris Gestapo did not mention this smaller total in its telex to Berlin, probably to avoid reproach from Eichmann, who had authorized this as an extra transport. The very elderly were used to help fill the train: 15 deportees were over 80.

Four of the five sublists for this convoy include:

2. Drancy/Stairway 1 – 290 names. One hundred thirteen were Greek Jews. There were some families: Léon (41) and Bolna (34)
